Following on from the successful SuDS installation at Measham Leisure Centre, TRT is delivering a second scheme in Measham at the Riverside Estate off Wigeon Drive.

The work involves creating a linear swale to receive road drainage, leading to a series of three collection basins stalling the water before it eventually flows on into the river. The works will provide increased flood storage and flood resilience using Natural Flood Management (NFM) techniques. The features will capture sediment which carries potential pollutants, therefore helping to improve water quality.

The proximity of this scheme to a residential housing estate offers a great opportunity to secure increased community engagement and awareness of the value of natural flood management techniques to address flood risk. These works will complement adjacent river restoration features which are currently being created along the same stretch of the River Mease.

Work is planned to take place in March and April 2018.

An event for local people is planned for Tuesday 15th May at 6.30pm.
