Beck to the Brink is a study of three small catchments; the Fledborough Beck, Sewer Drain and The Beck which are all failing Water Framework Directive standards mainly due to excess phosphate in the water and low invertebrate numbers.
The study aims to determine the cause of the problems and possible solutions. The findings from the study will inform future capital works and landowner engagement.
By carrying out this study ahead of committing resources to implement changes it will allow time to ensure future actions fit with landowner plans and to procure any necessary consents and permissions. Further it will allow time for gathering measurable data to enable robust monitoring.
